Wonderful work my hoofer friend! been tapping for 55 years! also a award winning dance teacher! still tapping, after two open heart bypasses!!!! at 60 yrs still love the art that it is. So much today is gone! old school tap wings, and riffs they don't teach it to day! and the taps sound are not as good as the old twin tone... and to see what they are teaching ! it a crime... thank you for your web site really enjoy it! keep tapping ! ps if you need to know about twin tone taps dumont made them 1947--- 1976... which they would made them again... you can type in dumont twin tone tap, and see the patten drawing, of the tap.... once again thank you! sam pica.

Maga dey here guys okkkkkkkkkkkk.
Ngbada Maga maga@yahoo.comIf you love tap dance, get down to Sadler's Wells from 13-16 June to see Savion Glover in London for the first time. Mr Glover won a Tony Award in 1996 for the Broadway smash hit Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk and was also most recently the feet of Mumbles in Happy Feet!
Let me know if you are interested and I'll send you a flyer!
Where could I have a lesson in Tap-dancing in London? We're a group of around 20 people being in London 11th till 13th of November 2007- and we would LOVE being taught how to danse this wonderful, "goofy" danse, tapdancing.

Hello Hoofers Club!
I'm eager to know what exactly went on in your days with in the dance world. So i went out to a library in Liverpool and found a book: The Black Tradition In American Dance. I'm studying in Liverpool, doing; dance and fine art with design. So i went onto the internet, browsed about and found Hoofers Club. It is really amazing to know the background way before my time (1987). That would be wicked to be on your guest list.

When you're bothered by something strap on your shoes and forget about everything else. Tap is my passion and I love to see how many other people have been touched by this too!!!

I grew up in Harlem in the 60's. I've been to several of the establishments mentioned but I missed the Savoy, as the contruction of Delano Village started on the old site of the ballroom. Maybe you can help me. There was a ballroom on the corner of 137th street and 7th ave (at the time) but the name escapes me. Are you familiar with the establishment?
I really enjoyed your site and hope to see more sites of this type. It's so inportant history is not lost.

I have to do a teaching session, and have chosen this as my subject. This site has been very informative, thanks¬!
Lisa lisa.stanier@blueyonder.co.ukBrilliant site. Much information - some I knew some I didn't. There's always something new to learn, whether it be new choreography or great tappers of the past. I'm still going at 48 and started as a child. What a brilliant way to keep fit along with creating new and interesting (and difficult) amalgamations. Keep up the good work.

Kenzie Dancr91587@aol.comI'm working on a tap website and I stumbled across your page. It is absolutely incredible Thank you so much for taking the time to write down a piece of the history behind modern tap dancing. I have been tapping for about 11 years and there is nothing I love more in the world. I want nothing more in the world than to be a known tapper like Ann Miller who is my tap idol. Again thank you so much and I will be putting a link to this site on mine because I think everyone should learn more about tap and this is the place to look for the in depth history of an incredible art form.

Kelly Coughlan dancer_gurl15@hotmail.comHi I've just found your site whilst doing some research for my own web site on Tap Dancing I am studying web design and our assignment is to design and build our first web page. I am also a tap dancer(a more mature dancer i mignt add). I have one lesson a week and our teacher puts on a show every 18months or so and at the beginning of May I made my first debut on stage dancing with our group of ladies we danced to Razzle Dazzle. We did ok but we could have been better but I dont think we let Sue our teacher down too much. The audience seemed to like it anyway. In the show were all of her other students the youngest being 3yrs old, the oldest about 63yrs old.I will be visiting the site again in the near future.

Came accross your site whilst browsing ,looking for somewhere I might be able to join a class or a jam while I am in U.K. and Europe May, June 2002. Very impressed with all your news and features. I am a " mature aged" lady, I do two x1&1/2 hour tap classes a week here in Melbourne and have just started doing a Jazz ballet class as well. Would love to do a little while I am visiting your country. Josie

Most inspirational, especially for someone like me who, after 10 years in the wilderness (mostly office work) has finally found her way back to this old and strongest passion. Does your club have a London venue? If so, I'd love to join up. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Claudia Kees cnk@ffwlaw.comI need more time to digest your site but have been very interested in the reading so far. I visited with the hope of being able to find out where to get hold of an instructional video in the UK. There do not seem to be any outlets here for the purchase that I have come across and buying from the USA puts the price up considerably. I am an old beginner and would love to be able to practice in the comfort of my own home too as once a week class is not enough. Can you help me please.
Julie Northern.Lassie@doddsj.fsworld.co.ukWow! It is a TRUE pleasure to discover your site. I am a tap and flamenco dancer by trade. Still studying. But now I have discovered within myself a strong desire to learn the Hoofer technique. Hope you can share some suggestions. I am located in North HOllywood, CA
Thanks again for this site.

Victoria Bishop angel.vb@talk21.comThis is a great site. I just found it and love what I see. I did not start tap dance until I was an adult, but after 111 years of tapping, I like to share my love of tap with others witha great program called the Tap Dance Sampler. It gets people who never had the opportunity to tap, a shot at it. All someone has to do to learn some steps is simply tell me what their shoe size is so we can go to the many boxes of tap shoes and find a pair his or her size, so they can get a taste of one of the most fun form of dances there is on the planet. It is now a part of a First Night celebration not far from here. I also have a nice display of tap dance of the past for others to get to know all the great tappers of the past

I think tap is the best thing god ever created! One day i want 2 be on a stage like the people off of stomp and create my own sound!!!! I am so thankful that god gave me such an awesom talent 2 tap! I love all dancing but tap tops them all!!! It inspires me soooo much!! And not alot of people give us tap dancers alot of credit! It always goes 2 the ballet dancers! And i love ballet but Tap is so fun! In ballet u have 2 be so serious. Tap its like u can just be so loose and have so much fun and u dont have 2 be serious! I hope one day i will be in N.Y.C dancing up on satge w/ no music making my own noises!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,
I'm Marquita Watkins, better known
as TapDanceKidd to many.I'm one of taps biggest
fans. I only started tapping at the age 11 and
I'm still doing it now at the age of almost 18.
To me tap seems to be one of the most best and
original forms of art to express your inner-self
as well as your outer-self. Just tapping with my
feet with no tap shoes on makes me feel as if I'm
in a world of my own. I think everyone should
enjoy the experience of tapping. If they can't do
it ateast watch it. Especially rhythm tap. My goal
in life is to become one of the most well known
original hoofers of all time. Like Savion Glover
and Gregory Hines who are my favorite. The Hoofers
Club is one of the best things to join if you
are a tap-a-holic like myself. If anyone knows
any connections or would like to see how good of
a tapper I am please feel free to email at
anytime.
Sincerly,
