Sloodle Toolbar - Instructions

IMPORTANT FIRST STEP
Before you can use this, you will need to authenticate your avatar.
Avatar authentication data was reset recently, so even if you have done this
once before you may need to do so again.

**NEW**
There is an experimental authentication system now built into the sloodle toolbar -
when you wear it you will automatically be prompted to go to an authentication page
on the web. Click yes. If you are not currently logged in to Sloodle, click on the 'login'
button at the bottom of the page.
Once you have logged in you should see a page which will show your avatar name and
the uuid 'key' - which is used to uniquely identify your avatar in Second Life.
All you need to do is click SUBMIT!!!

Hopefully that will have registered your avatar and linked it to your Sloodle account!

Currently the Sloodle Toolbar enables three activities:
- Authentication (detailed above)
- Blogging on your Moodle (blog entries appear on your Moodle profile)
- Gestures

SWITCHING TABS
To switch between Gestures and Blogging, click on the tabs-bar at the top of the toolbar.

HOW TO MAKE A BLOG ENTRY
Wear the Sloodle Blog Hud. OK it isnt pretty, I never said I was a graphic designer.

1. Click on the button across the top, or click on the SUBJECT button. You will now
be prompted to enter a subject for your blog entry. Type whatever you like in chat.
If this works, you should see your subject text appear on the HUD.
2. You will be prompted to enter the blog post message. Again, simply type whatever
you like in chat.
3. You will not be asked to SEND, EDIT or CANCEL your post. To edit, click on either
of the SUBJECT or MESSAGE buttons. No prizes for figuring out how to send or cancel
a post.

Erm, that's it.

HOW TO VIEW YOUR BLOG ENTRIES
Login to sloodle.com, and view your profile. (You can see your profile if you click on
your name at the top left of the window where it lists the identity of who is logged in!)
Click on the blog tab to view your blog entries.

I bought an island as a sandbox this morning. After a valid complaint from another resident and seeing what people built and just left (without cleaning up after themselves) in just 10 hours, I decided to abandon the sandbox idea and put the island up for sale again.

You live and learn...

We had a stall at the 24 hour SL Best Practices in Education conference exhibition yesterday and over 100 avatars came within 10 metres of it - so I guess that counts as a success :-)

If you find a THiNC book not rezzing/opening properly in HUD mode, try moving to another sim or just waiting a little while and trying again.

The problem is normally network/server congestion at Linden Labs.

Books 1 and 2 have now been republished using THiNC Press 2.0a. This means that they now have a menu option associated with them. The owner of the book has more menu options available to them than a non-owner, including the ability to resize the book and change it's brightness. I have also changed the permissions on the books to include "give away" so with the re-published books you can freely give copies to friends/colleagues/students.

I have also updated the exploding poster in the exhibition so the explosion is much more realistic and now has an associated big bang sound.

I could not resist the temptation and this week have bought another islet in the Daydream SE group. It is being used as a Library/Reading Room/Bookstore.

Book 3 is now available in a boxed set.

The box contains:

1) LSL Tutorial Exercise Book v1.0 (Book 3) with full copy/give away permissions.
2) Working solutions to Exercises 2-5 with copy/modify permissions
3) A notecard containing all the scripts used in the LSL Tutorial Exhibition
4) A URL to a Website from where you can download the entire book in PDF format.

Please note that Book 3 has been published with THiNC Press 2.0, which means that when rezzed or worn as a HUD, a menu option appears just below the bottom left hand corner of the book. You can use this menu to change the brightness and size of the book. It also has a page advance feature, which makes it easier to navigate the book.
